Alanis Morissette’s Ex-Manager Sentenced to 6 Years in Prison for Embezzlement

What’s worse than rain on your wedding day? Having millions of dollars stolen by your manager, most likely. Alanis Morissette‘s former manager is headed to jail for ripping off the “Ironic” singer as well as several other artists.

Alanis Morissette got majorly ripped off.

Jonathan Todd Schwartz managed Morissette’s career for several years. But it turns out, the entire time he was siphoning money out of her accounts and lying to her about her net worth.

Morissette spoke at his hearing on Wednesday to make her case. “He did this in a long, systematic, drawn-out and sinister matter,” she said. She claimed if his actions continued, she would have been bankrupt within three years. “It was at this time, I realized he also stole my dreams,” Morissette concluded.

Schwartz cited an extreme gambling addiction as the cause of his actions.
