The statement from Angelina Jolie’s representative made it seem like she would be retaining sole custody of the kids, which was a startling revelation considering Brad Pitt was being investigated for anger issues.
“In accordance with this agreement, the six children will stay in their mother’s custody, and the children will continue therapeutic visits with their father,” the statement reads. “This has been determined by childcare professionals to be in the children’s best interest.”
It continues to spell out that they are looking out for the welfare of the family. “We are not in a position to discuss the details. We hope now that it is clear that the events which led to the dissolution filing involved minor children and their wellbeing, there will be understanding of the sensitivity of the family situation,” it said.
Now, however, it’s come out that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have not agreed to give Angelina sole custody. Rather, this was just a short-term solution.
“There was no new agreement signed…it was simply an extension of the pre-existing, completely voluntary temporary arrangement they had previously agreed to,” a source stated. “It makes no sense because Pitt filed for joint custody on Friday…days after this supposed new agreement. There were absolutely not any child-care advisors of any kind imposing or in any way involved with this decision.”
Based on all the evidence, it sounds like things are still very much in flux for the divorcing couple. Hopefully they can work something out quickly and avoid dragging the argument on and on.
