Thankfully, Coachella promises to be much more exciting than the average high school reunion. The headliner lineup will be rounded out by Calvin Harris, with other anticipated performances by Ellie Goulding, CHVRCHES, Major Lazer, Sufjan Stevens, Zedd, Ice Cube and more.
Guns N’ Roses’ reunion comes as no shock, since the band had previously confirmed they would be heading to this year’s Coachella, where the grass is green and the girls are pretty. This will be the first performance that will feature both band founders, Axl Rose and Slash, in 23 years.
Considering Rose’s 2009 comments about Slash, it’s not clear how the reunion came to be or where the band plans to go from here. “There’s zero possibility of me having anything to do with Slash other than by ambush, and that wouldn’t be pretty,” Rose said. “Personally I consider him a cancer and better removed.”
Though LCD Soundsystem’s reunion is coming after a much shorter break (the group performed together for the “last” time in 2011), the announcement is no less anticipated. The band plans on continuing to play nice, with additional stops scheduled at Lollapalooza and Glastonbury.
In addition to the music, Coachella 2016 will have several anticipated activities to keep an eye out for. If you have some extra cash, why not Uber all the way to Indio–in a helicopter? For a measly $4,170, six people can share a private helicopter ride out to the desert. Don’t worry, cocktails are included in that price tag.
Once your UberCHOPPER has arrived, drop by the Here Active Listening tent to grab a pair of earbuds that will allow you to alter music in realtime. If you want to gain the superpower to pump the bass on that LCD Soundsystem track while hearing it live, this is the place to do it.
The festival will take place over two long weekends on April 15-17 and April 22-24, 2016.
