When a tiny chihuahua was spotted wandering the streets and looking sickly thin, someone picked him up and brought him to the vet. The vet scanned the dog for a microchip, which he had. The microchip read that Anna Faris was his owner, and that he had been adopted through Kinder4Rescue.
The vet contacted Kinder4Rescue, which is headed by Laurel Kinder. Kinder explained that when Faris adopted the chihuahua (named Pete) four years ago, she signed a contract agreeing that she’d pay a $5,000 fee if she ever gave the dog up to a different owner.
People’s minds naturally jumped to the worst conclusion–that Anna Faris had abandoned Pete–some people were equally quick to point out that the dog may have gotten out on accident. A rep for Anna Faris even told People magazine that “Anna is thrilled that the dog has been found, and is ensuring all necessary arrangements are made to bring the dog home.”
However, it doesn’t sound like she means her home. Other sources have pointed out that Faris and her husband Chris Pratt have already found alternate living arrangements for Pete, which means she’d still owe the $5,000 fee to Kinder. Furthermore, Kinder has stated she may sue the couple for breach of contract.
Anna Faris and Chris Pratt also got in trouble over their pets in 2011, when they decided to give away their aging cat. They stated that it was because they wanted to start a family, but a lot of people fired back that pets are for life, not just something you can get rid of once it becomes inconvenient for you.
Hopefully this is all just a misunderstanding and Pete can return safely home, wherever that may be.
