Jennifer Aniston Wrote the Essay Women Everywhere Have Been Waiting For

For a long time now, celebrity bodies have been a major point of focus. Who looks fat, who looks good and who looks old are all highlights of entertainment news conversation. Jennifer Aniston made a bold step to fight that norm by penning an essay for the Huffington Post.

Jennifer Aniston is all smiles and confidence.

In her essay, Aniston criticizes the “sport-like scrutiny and body shaming that occurs daily under the guise of ‘journalism.'” She goes on to say that the objectification women go through is “absurd and disturbing.”

Though this is obviously hurtful to individuals, Aniston points out that this is harmful to women as a collective, and that these behaviors cause young girls to devalue themselves unless they look a certain way.

Furthermore, the endless speculation on whether women are pregnant is another source of unnecessary pressure. “We are complete with or without a mate, with or without a child. We get to decide for ourselves what is beautiful when it comes to our bodies,” the actress wrote.

Many other celebrities, from Olivia Wilde to Jason Bateman, have endorsed Aniston’s message.
