The Hollywood Vampires were scheduled to play in Sweden at an amusement park known as Grona Lund earlier this week, but a social media campaign nearly put an end to the performance.
The band, which is made up of members Alice Cooper and Joe Perry in addition to Depp, has been playing shows since last year. The musicians brought the group together to honor the music of those who died from excessive partying, drug use and alcohol abuse in the 1970s.
The hashtag #ImWithAmber was being used to show support for Amber Heard, who submitted a photo of her bruised face as evidence for a domestic violence restraining order against Johnny Depp.
Despite the social media campaign, the rockers performed to a sold-out audience.
A Grona Lund amusement park spokesperson released a statement saying, “We are opposed to any sort of violence, of course. But it’s also equally important that we cannot judge someone beforehand.”
The statement continued, “Everyone, including Johnny Depp, should be allowed to have the right to be considered innocent until proven guilty.”
