The couples have been feuding for quite a while, and it seemed to all start with Kanye West calling out Beyonce at one of his shows. Apparently, she refused to perform at the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards unless she was guaranteed to win Video of the Year for “Formation.” That wasn’t exactly public information, but Kanye put it out there for the world to hear.
After that, Kanye targeted Jay Z for not returning his phone calls after Kim Kardashian was held up by gunpoint in Paris. Right smack on stage, Kanye shouted out, “Jay Z, call me. You still ain’t called me. Jay Z, I know you got killers. Please don’t send them at my head. Please call me. Talk to me like a man.” He also griped that his kids North and Saint haven’t ever had a playdate with Blue Ivy.
Now, all four members of these dueling couples were chilling at Blue Ivy’s fifth birthday party, but oddly enough, North and Saint were nowhere to be found. Perhaps this is a step in the right direction for regular playdates, or maybe Kim and Kanye were simply testing the waters to see how Beyonce and Jay Z would react to their presence.
But in the end, there can only be one power couple at the top, and it’s pretty clear Beyonce is the ruler of the music world at this point.
