Katy Perry’s spectacular Super Bowl XLIX performance came second only to the New England Patriot’s incredible win over the Seattle Seahawks.
We’ve been on a roll the last couple of Superbowl Halftime shows. Last year Bruno Mars got a huge career lift after delivering an amazing performance and in 2013 Beyonce absolutely killed it
These are tough acts to follow so Katy Perry came out big – literally – and made one of the more memorable Halftime entrances.
Sure, we’ve seen plenty of acts pop up from underneath the stage, but not many have made an entrance standing on top of a thirty foot high mechanical tiger, as Perry did, to lead off her set with “Roar” followed by “Dark Horse.”
Perry then kicked things up a notch with Lenny Kravitz playing lead guitar on a souped up version of the racy “Kissed A Girl” followed by “Teenage Dream” and “California Girls.”
Just as her set was in danger of getting a little campy campy, with brightly colored beach balls and dancing sharks, Missy Elliot helped Perry shift gears again and the two sang some of Elliot’s biggest hip hop hits – “Get Your Freak On,” “Gotta Work It” and “Lose Control.”
Perry closed with the uplifting anthem “Firewwork” as fireworks erupted around the stadium.
All in all, Katy Perry delivered a Halftime show that will be talked about for as almost long as New England fans will talk about their incredible win against the Seahawks!
