“1-2-3-4!” The Ramones were a New York punk rock band that formed in 1974 in the Forest Hills neighborhood of Queens. The band’s commercial appeal was a disappointment to founder, Joey Ramone, who was thought the band should have been bigger than The Beatles.
The Ramones did, however, make an indelible impact the UK punk scene which would soon spawn punk legends like The Sex Pistols and The Clash, while firmly rooting the New York punk scene at legendary club CBGBs, along with bands like the New York Dolls, Patti Smith, Blondie and The Talking Heads. Their influenced can be found from bands like Nirvana in the 90s and well as bands in the new millennium.
The Ramon es blend of high octane, stripped down guitars and bombastic stage shows were legendary, like the new years eve show in the UK at the height of the punk movement in 1977.
