Like any awards show, the Grammys aren’t just about winners and losers: they’re about fashion. A lot goes into the fashion we see on Grammy night: a lot of money, time, planning, and preparation. Some outfits are elegant and stunning, but others are just… odd. More often than not, it’s the bizarre, not the beautiful, that gets talked about the next day and beyond. Here are the Grammy 2015 looks that’ll be sparking conversation all week.
Sia’s known for maintaining a private persona, not showing her face during performances, so it shouldn’t have been surprising that she chose to keep her visage concealed for the Grammys. Don’t get me wrong; I love a woman who can pull off a tux, but Charli’s white tux, pink stole, and greasy hair had me thinking of Mean Girl‘s Janis Ian at the Spring Fling, not a pop star on the rise.
The singer and self-proclaimed “princess” turned up in what appeared to be orange plastic safety fencing, but she wore it confidently.
Helen Lasichahn and Pharrell Williams
In a jumpsuit and shorts, the pair looked more prepared for a jog than for accepting trophies.
Ariani’s not-even-that-famous reality TV star brother came in a suit as loud and annoying as he is.
The cleavage, the pink fringe, the matador-at-a-funeral cap.. what’s not to hate?
The hat, the hair, and the pocket square combine for one nasty clash.
There’s a lot going here. This is more ruffle than one designer should ever have had access to.
Children’s band The Pop-Ups handmade some cardboard pocket squares and bowties for their Grammy get-ups. Cute or tacky?
The DJ’s look was in line with her musical style, but just be sure not to put her in the microwave.
